Matt Matheson joined Trust Company of Oklahoma in 2018. Before that, he was an attorney with the law firm of Levin, Schreder & Carey, in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to moving to Chicago, Matt practiced law in Oklahoma for over 20 years.
Matt’s practice has focused primarily on estate planning; wealth transfer tax planning for high net worth families and individuals; estate and trust administration; asset protection; guardianship law; adoption law; and the formation and administration of tax-exempt organizations. Matt also has experience in representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities.
He holds a bachelor’s of science in accounting from Oklahoma State University. He received his juris doctorate and master’s degree in taxation from the University of Tulsa, and a master’s of law degree in taxation from the University of Florida.
Matt is currently a member of both the Illinois Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Association. In the past, he served as the chairperson of the OBA Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Section and the Community Law Week Committee of the OBA Young Lawyers Division. In addition, Matt has served as a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association’s Grievance Committee.
